Colossians 3:2

Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on the earth.

What would your life look like if you were in constant conversation with God? Everywhere you went, every person you saw; prayer without ceasing. Can you imagine what God could do with your day if you truly followed 1 Thessalonians 5:17?

2 Corinthians 10:4

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have the divine power to demolish strongholds.

Challenge:

1) Consider the fact that so many of the people around you do not have God in their lives, you can be the voice that intercedes on their behalf. In Mark 12:31, Jesus commands us to love our neighbor as ourselves. The most powerful expression of that love that you can give is through prayer. God promises the Holy Spirit will help us in our weakness and give us the words when we have no idea what to pray for. (Romans 8:26-27) Pray for the people around you. It doesn’t have to be long. God already know what that person needs, we just have to be obedient to His prompting to pray for them.

2) Be intentional with your prayer. How often do we say, “God be with us as we…?” What do we mean by that? God is always with us. (Joshua 1:9, 1 Corinthians 3:16) God isn’t unapproachable, we don’t have to be formal. He’s our Father! Pastor Francis Chan was speaking at a conference when his daughter ran to him on stage. She had no shame in approaching her father before a crowd of people, all she knew is that it was her dad up there and she wanted to be with him. It’s the same with God, He’s our Father, we can always run to Him and He will always be there to scoop us up in His arms and listen to us. (Francis Chan, Forgotten God Series…?) Focus on what you want to say to God, and be intentional as you say it!

3) Yes, God is our Father and we can approach Him as such, but we must not forget that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Psalm 111:10. When Moses saw God at the burning bush, he was terrified! (Exodus 3:6) God can do anything, He sees everything. We will never be able to fully understand how great, glorious and powerful He is! When we pray, we need to hold God to the glorious standard that He deserves.

Pray without ceasing, and let God transform your day!
